The Main Repair Centre

The ancient predecessor of the Main Repair Centre (MRC) was founded in 1856 in Szolnok. The county centre town is locatedSouth-east, 100 km from Budapest. The MRC is located on an approximately 300 000 m² site and the total indoor workshop area is more than 62 000 m².

The facility is fully prepared for complex repair jobs of all kind of rail vehicles from the Locomotive overhauls, remotorization, modernization across rail passenger cars’ refurbishments and state authority tests even till the conversion of power coaches.

Main Repair Units


Diesel and Electric Locomotives overhauls and modernization

The workstations for this job have a size of 21.053 m². Locomotives are directed to workshop place through any of the five crossing rail lines plus there are six leading-in only lines. There are seven sets of 4x20 tons lifting units. Remanufacturing of the main components of locomotives is located at separate places.















All special tools, test units and equipments are available for diesel engines components repair, like turbocharger, injection pump, water, diesel oil, engine oil pumps, there is a separated 1.500 m² engine test workplace, where engine load and performance tests can be completed. MRC has performance governing test equipment to measure and adjust diesel-electric power train parameters.


Rail passenger cars, goods wagon’s repairs and refurbishments


For such jobs more than 9.000 square m workstation is available. This workstation has lifting hoists, wagons’ weight measuring scale, brake system test equipment, etc... MRC has a 3.1050 square m paint shop area for 8 preparation workplace, with semiautomatic paint sprayer gate. The temperature can be adjusted everywhere in the whole paint shop.







Bogie repair

This workstation has a size of 10.000 m² for repair and remanufacturing activities.  There  is  a  separated  workshop  for  wheel-set  repairs, 














reassembling of them after reconditioning wheel dimensions. Dust free workshop environment is provided for quality repair of bearings.
